Plateworthy (plateworthy.co.uk) is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us at admin@plateworthy.co.uk.
The free check needs no account. When you buy a report we collect your email address (via our payment provider), the registration numbers you check, and the report data we generate. We never see or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely by a third-party payment processor.
We use your data to deliver the report you paid for and to let you sign back in to view it (performance of a contract), and to keep the service secure and working (legitimate interests). We send the magic-link and report emails you ask for.
We use third-party processors for payments, email delivery, database hosting, vehicle history and MOT records. We never sell your data.
When measurement is enabled, we keep daily totals of public page views, checks started or completed, and checkout activity. These counters use fixed page categories, source groups and product names. They contain no registration numbers, email addresses, report IDs, payment-session IDs or browsing identifiers, and cannot be joined into an individual visitor's journey. They use no analytics cookies or browser storage.
Optional third-party page views are sent only for an approved list of public pages. We send a canonical public URL with its query string, fragment and referrer removed. We install no automatic tracking script, and send no vehicle-check, report, account, comparison, sign-in or payment-completion URLs to the third-party analytics service. Like any browser request, a third-party analytics request includes network information such as your IP address and browser's user agent; the third-party service explains its cookieless counting in its data policy. Browser measurement respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
We also use the purchase and delivery records needed to operate the service to calculate private financial and reliability totals. A purchase may retain a fixed landing-page category and source group, rather than a referrer URL or an advertising identifier.
We keep purchased reports until you delete them or your account. We retain purchase records for seven years for accounting and legal obligations, but remove their link to your account when you delete it. Free-check data is normally refreshed after 24 hours. If the upstream service is unavailable, a clearly labelled cached result may be used for up to 30 days; older cache entries are removed by scheduled cleanup. Security rate-limit records are removed after 24 hours, operational logs and sent-email delivery records after 90 days, and anonymous daily measurement totals after 13 months. Pending delivery jobs remain until resolved or your account data is deleted. Scheduled cleanup may run after the retention threshold rather than at the exact expiry time. You can export or delete your account data from the account page.
You have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Email admin@plateworthy.co.uk to exercise any of these. You can also complain to the relevant data protection regulator.
