Plateworthy
A clearer view before you buy
Plateworthy helps used-car buyers understand recorded history and prepare better questions for a seller. Start with the free check, then decide whether you need a full report.
Who operates Plateworthy
Plateworthy is the public trading name of this service. For help before or after purchase, contact admin@plateworthy.co.uk.
Where the records come from
The free check uses a third-party MOT history service for the vehicle details and test records it returns. The full history report adds records supplied through a third-party vehicle history service, covering recorded finance, write-offs, theft and other available history.
Each source has limits. A missing field or an unconfirmed status is not evidence that a vehicle is clear. Reports show retrieval dates so you can see when their information was checked.
Explore sample reports or compare the free and paid coverage.
How we explain a finding
The assessment uses defined rules to explain the records supplied: what was found, what could not be confirmed and what to check next. We explain each finding without assigning a vehicle score or predicting mechanical condition.
Ownership and plate-change reference values are labelled heuristics. Individual reports explain their method. Our editorial policy describes sourcing, corrections and the distinction between guidance and evidence.
What a report can help you decide
Use a report to investigate discrepancies, ask for specific documents and decide when you need independent advice or inspection. Plateworthy provides no financial data guarantee and does not establish mechanical condition, roadworthiness or every unreported incident.
Vehicle identity still needs checking in person. Compare the physical car, its VIN and original documents with the records, even when no adverse history is returned.
Research with visible limits
The make and model resources combine buying questions with available aggregate MOT evidence. Test pass rates describe the chosen dataset; they are not adjusted mechanical-reliability ratings.
Read the research methodology, explore the research hub, or browse makes and models.
Contact and corrections
For an order question, a data discrepancy or an accessibility issue, use the contact page. Include enough detail to identify the issue, and keep card details and sign-in links private.
Plateworthy is independent of its third-party data providers and linked services.
